Painting satisfies a yearning I have for those places I once called home and allows me to preserve memories of those experiences. While painting I touch the roughness of an ancient stone wall, hot in the sun, cooler in the shade of a silvery olive tree. I hear the deep silence of a summer afternoon interrupted by a distant call to prayer. For years I dreamed about learning how to express those feelings with paint on canvas. During a sojourn in Italy my dream came true.
I want to challenge myself to grow as an artist, to paint beyond my current abilities, to create more complexity in my paintings, and to always work outside my comfort zone. I want to be intentional, always keeping in mind what I want to convey to you, the viewer. I invite your participation.
